Just because fiber's not a nutrient doesn't mean you can leave it out......

Interesting, indeed. This link starts by pointing out that despite fiber's integral dietary role, it's not considered a "nutrient". This distinction, along with fiber possibly not having the most wonderful reputation,(I doubt I'm alone in my mind going straight to prunes, prune juice, and metamucil) are probably at least some of the reason that Americans, on average get only 17 grams of fiber daily, when 25-38 grams are recommended. Hot peppers are quite good for you.....

Have you heard of capsaicin? Maybe not, but if you look hard enough at your local pharmacy, you'll likely find it on the shelf. It's used to treat arthritis pain due to it's anti-inflammatory properties, but you can also find it in hot peppers. While many people shy away from spicy foods, hot peppers and hot sauces derived from said peppers have many wonderful qualities. Scotland's diet concerns sound familiar......
